Quick post: Sometimes i snoop around on the folders on my Mac. Anyway last night i came across a hidden application in Mac OSX 10.7. Its called WiFi Diagnostics and it seems to be quite a handy little tool. You can monitor the performance of your wireless interface, record wireless events, capture frames and turn on debugging logs. The one I’m most interested in is the raw frame capturing.
Basically this does the same job as Wireshark sniffing data on your network and whatever else is floating about in the air. You will need a tool to open up the file it creates like the wireshark app however i still find it very useful. Wireshark on OSX requires X11 to run and it does the trick. Its just nice to know there is a dedicated app developed by Apple for evil

My favorite part of this tool is that by using it, you consent sending all captured data back to Apple, including info in plain text. This, in turn, also helps develop Apple’s version of SkyHook improve its database. Therefore, I would not even use this tool for legal security audits or troubleshooting, as you may
inadvertently be passing on company secrets.
Furthermore, if one decided to use this for nefarious purposes, Apple would be quick to hand this info over to authorities. Nice post, though. Not many know about this. In fact, I forgot about this, too!
